Beijing's evenings are quieter than Shanghai's but they are not empty, and the best of them are specific to the city. Three Beijing opera venues run evening excerpt programmes with English, Japanese and French interpretation at one of them, mostly an hour long, from CNY 20 at a guild hall to CNY 580 at a theatre restaurant. Beyond that there is a forty-minute boat ride along the Liangma River, the only Great Wall section open after dark at Gubei Water Town, a cycling loop past the floodlit Forbidden City walls, a hutong food walk, and the seasonal Halloween evening session at Universal Beijing Resort.
